Maverick

Maverick was born of a simple idea – to make a better bike. We didn’t start with a business plan or a marketing scheme, just the pure and straightforward desire to design and build the kind of bike we’d like to ride in the hills above Boulder.

“I wanted one. Paul wanted one. It was really that simple,” remembers co-founder, Frank Vogel. “We just made the bike because it’s what we wanted.”

And so back in 1999 Maverick began in Paul Turner’s garage. The story is often told: In the late 80’s Paul took his expertise and skills as a Honda motocross mechanic and revolutionized the world of cycling by inventing RockShox. Tired of the corporate culture he moved on and by ’99 began drafting and designing a suspension bike. Turner and Vogel got together not to build a business, but to build their dream mountain bike.

Maverick is now located in Golden, CO.

Maverick Durance

A worthy complement to our ML8, the Durance’s cockpit is slightly stretched out for speed and balance in xc riding applications. Our lightest bike, the Durance is especially agile, and its aggressive geometry and 5.5 inches of rear suspension travel make this bike at home just about anywhere. You call the shots, and the Durance can handle it…and make you a better rider along the way. Built from a custom-drawn 6066-alloy tubeset, and featuring a lowered top tube, the Durance is built to perfectly handle an epic all day ride or a short xc race. We’ve also expanded the size range for the Durance. From small to XXL—riders up to 6’5” now have a Maverick to ride.

Maverick ML8

The benchmark. You can feel the lineage from the original ML7, but the ML8 offers an unmatched 6.5-inches of travel in a sub-30-pound bike. The combination of its monocoque frame, Monolink suspension design, integrated rear shock, and the perfectly matched DUC32 fork give the ML8 an exclusive position in the mountain bike world...a light but very tough trail bike that climbs just as proficiently as it descends.

Maverick DUC32 Fork

At just 3.9 pounds, the air-sprung 6” travel DUC32 is the lightest double-crown fork available. It uses a proprietary monocoque “H” upper design to maximize fore/aft stiffness for precise handling, and the inverted construction puts the stronger, stiffer stanchions up high to resist flex. This design constantly bathes the bushings in oil, and gives the fork an active ride, even over small bumps. Integrated with the DUC stem and 24/7 front hub, the DUC32 is one of the stiffest and lightest suspension systems on the market, with plush long-travel and a truly useable Climbing Mode mode that lowers the bike’s front end 2” for improved climbing. The DUC32 is highly tunable, and is suitable for even the most demanding rider, and for virtually any condition.
